Located just 25kms from Málaga’s international airport, Fuengirola is one of the popular destinations on the Costa del Sol, known as much for its amenities, as for its vibrant city centre and seven kilometres of Blue Flag beaches. With an all-year-round temperate climate, modern infrastructure and superb amenities, Fuengirola is extremely popular amongst expats, holiday makers and investors alike.

Family attractions in Fuengirola

To help you decide whether this beautiful stretch of coastline could be right for your family, here are some of our favourite child friendly activities in and around Fuengirola.

1. Bioparc Fuengirola:

The Bioparc is at the top of the list, as it is equally appealing to adults as well as children. Although the animals are captive, unlike a traditional zoo, the Bioparc is focused on conserving species from all over the world. It is also possible to walk through the Lima enclosure to see these adorable creatures close up, but you’ll need to queue and numbers are limited. There are also children’s activities and workshops.

Not far away in the neighbouring Mijas, this is in our opinion the best water park on the Costa del sol. It has everything to keep everyone entertained, including waves pools, wild rivers, body skiing, water slides and loops. There is also a bar, restaurant and picnic area – it’s a great family day out!

3. Sea Life Benalmádena:

Although located in the nearby resort of Benalmadena, this is a great way to discover the underwater world. It has interactive zones, daily feedings of seahorses, sharks, octopi and otters, which is both fun and informative, with an emphasis on conservation. You can plan your visit to coincide with the daily feeding schedules. There’s also a café bar and a shop where you can pick up some fun souvenirs.

6. Karting Experience:

This 900-metre go-karting track on the terrace of the Miramar Shopping Centre is suitable for both adults and older children. There is also a bar-café on the terrace if you don’t fancy being in the driving seat.
